On September 18, the Muqix Research Institute released the GEO Whitepaper (2026 Edition) — the first systematic external release of our methodology since entering the GEO track in 2025.
The paper argues that as users move from searching links to asking AI directly, the competitive arena for enterprise content shifts into the answer generation process of large language models. Rank-centric SEO metrics cannot capture a brand's presence inside those answers.
The whitepaper therefore introduces AI Citation Rate: build a set of target questions, sample LLM answers at scale, and quantify how often and how favorably the brand appears — making the measurement trackable, comparable and attributable.
For optimization it proposes four steps: entity clarity, data verifiability, structural markup (schema and FAQ), and authoritative multi-source publishing to raise AI trust.
A Muqix founder noted that GEO is not a replacement for SEO but an extension of content work in the AI era, offering an executable evaluation and optimization system rather than another concept.
The whitepaper is available for download on our website, including industry-specific interpretations.
